A good laugh about Amateur Radio

Being a HAM myself, I always enjoy a good story about fellow Amateur Radio operators. But there's something that I'd like you to keep in mind as you read this.

Have you seen on the news stories about hurricanes hitting the east coast or reports of earthquakes in California or possibly other disasters? Consider that during a potential disaster in your area, your life or the life of someone you love might just be in the hands of one of the people you're about to meet. If after you read this, you feel a little nervous about whom you might be depending on during one of these disasters, good. I'd like to believe that many hams will be willing and able to help when needed. However, the best thing you can do is plan on depending on yourself in those times. And if this story helps you decide to do that, the laugh will be well worth it! A good laugh about Amateur Radio.
